We are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Community Support Worker to join our team within the Housing & Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI) Program. This role will involve providing psychosocial support to people living with mental ill-health, empowering them to live independently and recover in the community. You’ll work closely with individuals to help them set and achieve personal goals, foster meaningful community connections, and live life on their terms.

Qualifications & Experience:

Cert IV in Mental Health, Peer Work, or equivalent, or demonstrated industry experience.

Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

Valid NSW Class C driver’s license and ability to drive a variety of vehicles.

A current Police check, WWCC, and NDIS WC (prior to starting the role).

Your Role:

Support Planning: Develop person-centred support plans in collaboration with customers, focusing on wellbeing, strengths, goals, and cultural safety.

Practical Support: Assist customers with daily activities, including skill development, transportation, social and leisure activities, finances, appointments, personal care, and medication.

Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, and local stakeholders to ensure our services are well-connected and culturally appropriate.

Accessing Services: Help customers navigate and connect to additional services, particularly those that are culturally specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records through online systems and databases.
